From: Baltimore's 8-month Civic Accelerator utilizes immersive and educational volunteering to infuse life-changing purpose into young people's lives. These young Difference Makers explore the power of community and pathways into Baltimore's social impact sector and beyond.

We are looking for 10 Difference Makers to join our 2022 June Cohort.
Difference Makers (DM's) are the young social impact leaders of our future. This June, our young adult DM's  (18-22 years old) will travel to New Orleans for a week of volunteering & exploring, followed by 3-weeks of full-time programming and skills-development back in Baltimore.

After June, DM's will be provided with 1-on-1 mentoring for 4 hours per month and given pathways into the social impact sector. 

Next year, we will have a 15-year-old cohort of Baltimore City High School sophomores.

Benefits

Requirements

  • 18 to 22 years old as of June 1, 2022

  • Resident of Baltimore City and/or alumni of Baltimore City High School

  • COVID-19 vaccination including booster OR willing to get it by May 20th, 2022

  • Pass background check (no violent or assault charges)

  • Government Issued Photo ID to use to check-in at airport (ex. MD State ID, Drivers License, etc)

  • Preference is given to Black & Brown applicants living in Baltimore City

  • Ability to participate in all programming - schedule below

We welcome immigrant applicants and will assist in overcoming barriers around documentation and finances for chosen DM's in relation to participating in the program. If there are any other barriers to participating, please email frombaltimore@breakadifference.org

Schedule

Over the 8-month accelerator program, from May to December, DM's will spend 200-hours volunteering and in skills-development programming. A $3,200 stipend and $800 graduation award will be given to all DM's who complete the accelerator program.
